About Me
I am a highly sensitive person who see’s beauty and the best in everyone and everything. I have a curiosity to learn about almost everything. I’ve always sensed that some thing was different about me because I couldn’t relate to most people. I was never good with small talk as much as I was with deep conversations. I originally assumed that the root of this disconnect was because I experienced some very dark moments in my life. It wasn’t until my counsellor at the time that told me about the trait.
I have my strengths and weakness and daily challenges just like everyone else. I don`t believe in quick fixes but more on making conscious and consistant steps like transforming nonsupportive habits to positive ones. I feel full gratitude for all the past and present struggles and view them more as life lessons that brought me here to you. I have a rich inner world and within the past few years have seen this manifest outwards. I am happy and am on my journey to being happier.
Being Highly Sensitive doesn’t necessarily mean that HSP are super sensitive and take everything personally. It means that biologically we have a highly sensitive nervous system and process much more information and with greater depth than most people. To intensify the sensitivity, we pick up on others’ mood omnipresent around us. It’s no wonder that often times our mind and body shut down from over stimulation and need quiet time to recharge. As humans and animals when faced with danger, the natural instinct is to fight or flight but as HSP we often freeze and need time to assess the best course of action. By doing so we may come up with solutions that are very creative and insightful. We are proud to be highly intuitive, highly empathetic, and have this desire to use our sensitivity to serve others and help make this world a better place. I can’t think of anything else in this world if there is something worth being exhausted about, then to love fiercely and abundantly.
Beyond The label
I use the label highly sensitive to help me understand this aspect of myself better and to help you in finding yours. But I am more than highly sensitive and never use that as an excuse for any of my actions. It is not something to validate but to be empowered by. I believe that one can never truly expand as a being if they label themselves in any way. Having said that, I fully appreciate that Dr. Elaine Aron has helped us all understand ourselves better by giving the trait the name, Highly Sensitive.
Namaste, Highly Sensitive Magnificant Being!
